Not only sinister people met in the dungeons

The air was dank and musty. Rori had been wandering the castle trying to find something interesting to do, but found herself down in the dungeons.

She didn't mind the dungeons like some people. Most people thought only sinister people come down here (Or those wanting to go to potions) but it wasn't always the case. Rori came down to the dungeons to either think or go to the common room.

She found herself thinking, as she walked the stone floor, about what the school must have been like when the founders where still alive. It mustn't have been too different because they made the school that she was in today. Did they have a different uniform? Different classes? Different rules? All these things made Rori wonder.

She sat down on the cold floor her knees under her chin.

Somehow Jacen ended up in the dungeons. He had been walking to the Great Hall while reading over some History of Magic notes on a piece of parchment he had in his hand. It's a wonder that he didn't run himself right into a cold, stone wall or stumble down the stairs. He looked up from his parchment, expecting to see the beautiful tables of the Great Hall, but all he saw was a girl and some dreadfully dirty walls. It didn't look very familiar to Jacen, although he was sure he'd been there at sometime.

He decided to go ask the girl where he was. He was a little worried because she looked to be a Slytherin, but he figured that as long as he gave her no reason to jinx him that he would be alright. Unless he... 'Oh come on, just go ask her where in the blazes you are!' he thought to himself.

Jacen approached the girl and asked, "Hello miss, you wouldn't happen to know where...Hey wait, what are you doing down there?" After a few seconds, he realized this might not have been the most diligent way to go about things, but it's not every day you see someone sitting on the floor in the dungeons.

Rori's train on thought was broken by the entrance of the boy, she reckonised him from some of her classes, he was a Ravenclaw.

Rori wasn't a big one for this whole house rivalry thing but seeing as she was a slytherin she thought it best just to go with the flow. As far as she knew Slytherins didn't have anything against Ravenclaws, not like Gryffindors that's for sure.

Rori gave to the boy a look like one gives some one when they are saying 'Riiiiiiight'.

"I am just sitting. Is there something the matter with me sitting here?" She asked him.

'Uh oh,' Jacen thought to himself. This was taking a turn for the worse, and that was not a turn he wanted to make. Somehow he seemed to have insulted the girl unintentionally, and now he had to dig his way out of it.

"Well no, I was just thinking, uhm, you know..." This was definitely not going how Jacen had hoped, he had a feeling this was only making matters worse. "It's just not everyday that you see a, uh, girl sitting, you know, in the dungeons..." It was a recovery, not a great one, but a recovery nonetheless.

Rori smiled to herself. This dude was a bit of a dork. She thought. She watched as he attempted to recover himself but he didn't seem to do a very good job. Was all the students at Hogwarts this afriad of Slytherin, afriad that we just want to jump out and curse everything that moves??

"I wasn't offended." She said "I'm Rori, I think we are in the same class for History of Magic??"

When she didn't get raise her voice or yell at him, Jacen was totally relieved (he hated being yelled at). She actually seemed to lighten up a bit. He felt like a fool for stereotyping and thinking she would be mean and nasty just because she was a Slytherin.

"Bloody Hell! Are you now? I tend to sit way up front, better interaction and all that you know, so maybe that's why I didn't recognize you." Schoolwork was one of 2 things that he could talk about with anyone in the world. The other was quidditch. "The whole reason I got down here was because I got lost on the way to the Great Hall because I was looking over the notes from class. It's amazing isn't it? To think that those wizards and witches were in this castle one day. It's astounding."

"Oh by the way, I'm Jacen. You can call me Jay if you'd like," he said with a smile.

Rori laughed, he seemed to have thought that she would have cursed him, had he said the wrong thing.

"Ok then Jay." She started, "It is pretty amazing that they were once in a wizardy school. Not necessarily this one but it is possible that they were once sitting in this same spot." She pointed to the floor she was sat on.

Jacen took a seat on the other side of the corridor facing Rori. "What I mean is that, all that time ago these great wizards and witches founded this school. What the must have felt like..."

He sort of stared off into the ceiling. A few moments passed and he snapped back to the present. "Anyways, what WERE you doing sitting on the floor by yourself?" He was thankful that Rori wasn't one of those angry Slytherins, or if she was then she wasn't showing it. She actually seemed to be quite nice.

Wow that was exactly what I was thinking.

"I was just wandering around Hogwarts, looking form something to do and I ended up here." She said. "It isn't as bad as people think down here." She looked around. "I mean it is a bit dark and dreary but it is quiet and solitary. Gives you space to think." It was true nearly nobody came down into the dungeons.

"Ah yes, I do alot of thinking myself. I just tend to do it while I'm walking." Jacen laughed when he thought about this fact. It was indeed true, he thought alot while he walked. It seemed like time wasted otherwise. "That's why I get lost often, I forget to pay attention to where I'm walking! That's how I ended up here just now."

He thought he might be talking too much, but he did that alot so he wasn't too worried. "How long had you been sitting down here before I stumbled over?"

Rori was beginning to see that these 2 people had alot in common. "Not long." She replied. "About 10 minutes maybe?" She moved her legs so she was sitting cross legged. Today Rori was wearing her winter school robes, which consisted of her white shirt with slytherin tie, slytherin jumper, slytherin robe, pants and a slytherin scarf. It was quite cold down in the dungeons. In fact it was near frezzing, but Rori was used to it since her common room was down here. She spent alot of time at the lowest level of Hogwarts.

"Well, I'm sorry if I've interrupted you. I know how much it stinks to be deep in thought then have some one come bugger you." It was lucky for Jacen that he had dressed warmly on his way to the Great Hall because it was awfully drafty down in the dungeon corridors. All of the wind and cold air from the castle much just collect down there. He had on his Braga Broomfleet league champions sweatshirt on underneath his heavy robes and he could still feel the chill.

"What do you normally think about, if you don't mind me asking? I normally just think about quidditch or schoolwork. I'm always afraid I'm going to forget to do an assignment or miss a practice, so I have to always be thinking about them." Once again, he was talking too much, but Rori hadn't told him to be quiet yet so he took that as a sign to keep on yapping.

"Everything really." Rori was constantly in thought, her head in the clouds, day dreaming. She was usually getting train of thought broken by people, so she was used to it. Her brother was a person who never thought and interrupted her.

"I just start thinking about one thing and then that turns into something else and then that changes and the cycle continues. I sometimes wonder how I got from my starting topic to my finishing topic. Like the other day I was thinking about the house elves down in the kitchens and by the time I was interrupted I was thinking about dugongs. How does that work??" She gave a short laugh.

"Bloody hell, I know exactly what you mean!" Jacen laughed heartily, because he really did know exactly what she meant. This often happened to him as well. "Whenever that happens, it makes me think even more because I want to know WHY I started thinking of the first thing. Like you said, it's a vicious cycle. I go from thinking about quidditch to potions to unicycles. What in blazes do those have in common? Confuses the brains right outta me.

Jacen took a good look at Rori and decided he would have to say what he was thinking. "I don't mean to offend you, but when I approached you, I never thought that I would have so much in common with a Slytherin. I know that not all Slytherins are bad and stuff, but I never really thought there would be some, or at least one, a lot like myself. It just makes you wonder, you know?"

Rori smiled. "Well suprise! There is at least one." She said. "I mean I can be a pregnant dog at times, but most of the time I am just misunderstood. I really dispise this whole house rivalry thing the is going on at this school."

She hated that she wasn't allowed to talk to Gryffindors because of what house they were in. But then again Gryffindor can be really annoying at times, just take her brother for example.
