Dael once wondered how many house elves worked down in the kitchens of Hogwarts. Surely there should be a lot, since the food in the Great Hall was always plentiful and tasted wonderful. Maybe there were ten of thousands of house elves working down there! Yet, they all seemed to be able to operate unseen. Or perhaps Dael's slight handicap prevented him from spotting the stealthy house elves.
Stumbling slightly over a step, Dael blinked, shaken out of his thoughts. What lesson was he heading for...potions? Shaking his head at once, Dael frowned. He hadn't signed up for potions...so, where was he off to? Absently he scratched his head, face screwed up in contemplation. His foggy eye seemed almost as distant as his normal gray one. Standing on the staircase, deep in thought, Dael didn't notice he was right in the middle of the path, blocking anyone from going up or coming down.

Chelsea was walking down the stairs in deep thought. She wasn't really paying attention to where she was walking. As she stepped down a stair she looked and noticed there was a boy blocking the way. "Oh, sorry but may I get passed." She asked polietly

Rori was walked hastily up the stairs. She had an armful of books that blocked her view. Not knowing about the hold up she kept walking a crashed into the boy front on.
"Watch where your going!" she yelled at him picking up her books and picking herself off the ground, still unaware of who she had crashed into.

Dael blinked, his mind currently on the topic of broomsticks when an impact penetrated his thoughts.
"Oh! Sorry!" Dael exclaimed. Hastily moving down the steps, Dael noticed that the person had spoken was a girl. He became clumsy at this observation and tumbled down the remaining steps. He groaned in pain as he landed on his side.

Chelsea was pushed backwards and she fell on the step behind her landing on her backside. What the flip? She thought aloud.

The boy started to walk so quickly that Rori, too, was wisped off her feet and landed in a tumbled mess at the foot of the stairs she was climbing.

He sat up, rubbing his gut. He gazed upwards and saw the destruction caused so suddenly, it was hard to believe just a minute ago he had been dreaming of house elves.
"Sorry!" he cried again, pushing himself up and hurrying over first to the girl with the dropped books, picking up a few items before moving up the stairs and checking on the girl above.
"Are you okay?" he asked both, concern clouding his eyes.

"I'm fine" Rori spat at the boy, "You should be more careful where you decide to start daydreaming next time." She took her books and stormed up the stairs away from the other 2.

Chelsea gave the girl a dirty look as she left. 'Typical Slytherin' She thought. "Yes I'm quite alright. What about you? Are you ok?"

Blinking vaguely after the retreating Rori, Dael turned to look at Chelsea. He smiled brightly and said, "Yes, I'm great! Thanks for asking. Funny how a small idea can cause such a mess. Have you ever wondered how many house elves work in the kitchens? Or if broomsticks enchanted to fly can still clean?" His smile widened, as did his left eye. His clouded right eye continued to simply stare emptily.

Chelsea giggled. She never knew anyone to ask so many random questions but she liked it all the same. "That's alright and , no, i don't wonder any of those things but they would be interesting things to find out. I'm quite sure of it." She said brightly, nodding. While looking at Dael she noticed a bit of dirt on his left cheek. She hesitated for a moment. "Arr, you have a bit of dirt on your cheek. Do you mind?" She asked politely, but before Dael could answer she was wiping the dirt off his cheek with an unused tissue. "No need to worry, It's clean."

Dael's good eye was suddenly filled with shock and surprise. A red tinge appeared on his cheeks and he took a hasty step backwards, nearly tumbling over himself all over again.
"Sorry," he said, embarrassed, moving back to his original spot, "I, uh..you kind of startled me." He spoke as if this was the first time he'd laid eyes on a female, with his head bent shyly and voice hardly above a whisper. Speaking to a girl about a dream was one thing...but she'd touched him! Given, it had been the tissue that had actually touched his flesh, but still!

Chelsea sighed with embarrassment. "Oh, I'm sorry. I should of waited untill you said something. It's my fault." She said in a muffled voice. She looked down onto the ground and started to twist her foot back and forth.

"No, no," Dael said in that same bashful voice, left eye wandering aimlessly, "I just overreact is all, I'm so stupid," he sighed, hand on his temple. It was true, he did feel he overreacted wihen it came to girls, but for some reason he couldn't help the jittery feeling in his gut.
"But thank you," Dael said and gave a weak smile, touching his cheek. "It was nice of you."

Chelsea gave Dael a sort of half smile. "Your not stupid. Don't put yourself down like that." She said caringly. Chelsea noticed that her tie was sitting on a diagonal. She quickly fixed it and looked back at Dael.
