Autumn was starving, she laid in bed contemplating whether or not she should go and bother the kitchen elves for some late night food. She decided it was either ask them now or wait until morning until breakfast and she was incrediably hungry at this point. She slipped out of bed and hurried out of the gryffindor tower and headed towards the kitchen.
Autumn thought she best be mindful of who was around and watching her. She snuck quickly around the corridors clenching her dressing gown tightly around her and being careful not to let hr slippers fall off. She reached the portrait and tickled the pear surprised to see the portrait open and see what seemed to be a flood of elves cooking away, she hesitated upon entering as she heard footsteps in the corridor.

A pair of vividly green eyes preceded their owner down the dark corridor. It was lucky that her eyesight was keen, or Tabitha Lawson would long ago have fallen into a suit of armor and awoken the whole castle. It was, after all, a long way down from Gryffindor tower.
Her sheet of long, dark hair trailed behind her, spilling across the back of the pale yellow bathrobe that she had wrapped around her crimson pajamas. Her feet were bare, but it wasn't as if Tabitha had never walked down this corridor before; she knew exactly where everything was, even without looking, and her feet didn't feel the cold that radiated off of the bare floors.
Walking stealthily but not quite tiptoeing, Tabitha made her way down the corridor and toward the painting that concealed the kitchens. Letting her guard down a little, she resumed her normal walk, but then stopped dead as she reached the painting of the fruit bowl; it was already open, and someone was standing in the entryway.
Tabitha's heart leapt, but its beating returned to normal after a split second. She recognized the face that was slightly illuminated by the light from the kitchen, for she had seen it in her own common room many times before. Recovering immediately, she smiled in a warm way and whispered, "We had better go in, you know, or we'll be caught by a prefect."

"Yeah we should do, I am so hungry."
She glanced at Tabitha for a moment and wondered if she had come to investigate how much noise she was making or if she was actually hungry. She thought she had made alot of noise trying to leave the tower, after all it was dark and even though she knew where she was going she still had managed to stumble over things.
She walked into the kitchens and saw the elves staring at her, they all smiled. She looked around to make sure Tabitha was still there. The eleves all looked unperplexed at the sight of the two girls, most continued to cook but a few came and offered the girls food.
Autumn smiled at them graciously and accepted some pumpkin juice. She managed to find an empty box and sit down on it whilst the elves scurried about.

Tabitha followed Autumn into the kitchens, closing the painting behind her so that no one would see the light and inspect the reason for it. The fifteen-year-old looked around, smiling at the fragrant aromas and the sight of the elves scurrying about as they began preparations for the great breakfast the next morning. A few elves came up to the two Gryffindor girls, bowing and offering trays of various drinks and treats. Tabitha took a mug of hot chocolate and a cream tart, telling the elves politely, "Thank you."
"You is too kind, miss," one of the elves said in response as he hurried away with the tray. Tabitha wondered at their devotion to the school and its inhabitants, and even felt a little sorry for them, as all they ever knew was the inside of the castle, cooking for and cleaning up after a bunch of rowdy kids. Yet they always seemed so happy and cheerful that the Gryffindor's doubts would fly when they smiled those strange little smiles as if they truly appreciated her manners.
Tabitha turned back to Autumn, who had chosen a glass of pumpkin juice from the proferred items and taken a seat on a box. The fifteen-year-old found another box next to the first one and paused before sitting down, turning those twinkling, vivid green eyes to her fellow Gryffindor. "So," she said jokingly, "do you promise not to spit the pumpkin juice all over me if I sit down next to you? I don't know if it's good for your hair or not, although it can't be that much worse than aged butterbeer."
The fourth year gazed at Autumn with an amused expression, hoping that the girl wouldn't take her comment as an insult or else be embarrassed and turn red.
