It was a cold, dull afternoon. The grounds were coverd in snow and the trees looked like they had been dipped in coconut. The sky was a dark shade of grey and the grass crunched under Brendan's feet as he walked. Most people were in their common rooms sitting by the fire or playing wizards chess. Not Brendan, he was sick of playing wizards chess and sitting by the fire. Besides, he kept getting beaten by people playing chess. He just wasn't good at all. Instead of staying in, Brendan, went for a walk outside to get away from the sultry of the Gryffindor common room. The common room was a little too crowed and he was getting frustrated because he was hitting somebody with every step he took.
The sixteen year old Gryffindor walked along the path leading towards the Greenhouses. It was true that he didn't like Herbology and that he found it quite boring, but he did like looking at all the plants, well sometimes. When some of them bloomed they gave off a really nice fresh smelling smell that filled the Greenhouse from one end to the other. Brendan wasn't here for that though, he was here to find some shrivelfig to help make his Shinking Solution. All he needed were the peeled Abyssinian shrivelfig to complete it.
Brendan wondered were he would find it. He tried to think back to his second year. They had covered the shrivelfig then and he just needed to know which Greenhouse that it had been in. Surely he wouldn't get in trouble from Professor Zanther for wanting a little shivelfig. Brendan didn't really want to ask he where he could find it either. Finally, Brendan remembered which greenhouse it was, it was Greenhouse four. Hopefully they hadn't moved it otherwise Brendan might not be able to finish his Shinking Solution he had been planning to use in emergencies.
At last he found it and luckily it was in greenhouse four. Brendan walked over to the green plant and started to pick some shivelfig. Crawling up the window was a vine that looked like it was coming straight towards Brendan. The vine was a purple, green colour and it was rather thick. The vine lookede like it was coming to get Brendan. Maybe it was some sort of security vine that Zanther had put there. Panicking, Brendan moved quickly picking only a couple of stalks. He only needed a couple of stalks to finish it anyway.
The young Gryffindor shoved the plant in his inside pocket of his robes and started to walk out of the greenhouse.
No security vine for me today He laughed to himself.
