Bobbins walked into his classroom in his usual cheery mood. The day was beautiful but , unfortunately, they would be working inside; in the dark. Whistling, he closed all the windows shut with a flick of his wand. All the light there was was the suns rays peering though the cracks in the window shutters. On Bobbins' desk sat a large chest. It rattled and bounced around so loud you could hardly hear yourself talk. Bobbins waited patiently, still whistling, for his students. He was eager to teach them all and to have a bit of fun.

Jacen was very excited for his first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson of the new year, for he was certain that they would start to learn how to defend real dark magic and creatures now that he was a 3rd year.
As he walked down the hallway towards the classroom, he was very early so no one else seemed to be roaming the corridors at the time, he could hear loud banging and rumbling noises coming from the direction of the room he was headed towards. This both excited and frightened Jacen a little, as he still did not know very much magic and was unsure of his abilities in front of his peers. When he arrived at the classroom he took a deep breath, and crossed the threshold to see...and nearly empty room. He was the first student.
At the front of the class was the professor, Professor Bobbins, and there was the source of the noise Jacen had heard. A large, bouncing chest sitting on Professor Bobbin's desk. Jacen tried to say "Good afternoon" to the professor, but he was almost certain that the sound did not make it far over the noise from the chest. Jacen took a seat near the front of the room, and got his book, parchment and quill all ready on his table and waited for class to begin.

Walking in a few minutes after Jacen, Dael waved absently at the Professor, taking a seat next to his fellow third year. Though his eyes were fixed on the rattling chest (well, his left one), there was a vacant stare. Dael's wand however, was already gripped in his hand.

Sam was really excited about his first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson for the year. He had always liked DADA and was hoping the lesson would live up to his expectations.
Sam walked happily into the classroom. He didn't bother saying anything to the Professor because of the noise coming from the chest on the teacher's desk. He sat in about the middle of the classroom and got his quill, parchment and wand out ready to start the lesson.

Tim wasn't too excited about his first DADA class, he had had been doing this class since year one and was preety sure that this class would be no different from the others.
He walked into the classroom and accknowledged the professor, after all he was the Head of Gryffindor. "Professor." He nodded at him and took a seat towards the back left of the room. He saw the chest on the front desk, but wasn't worried, as if any harm would come to a student during class?

Rori made her way from her previous class to DADA. When she entered the room it was quite dark. She made her way over the a seat on the right hand side of the class room and stared at the chest on the front table.

As Lena walked into the classroom, she was actually quite please to see it was almost completely dark. She took her usual seat close to the back and swung her back on the back of her chair. She rested her head on her arms, closing her eyes. Now if only Professor Bobbins would stop whistling, I could get some sleep. Lena thought.

Seeing that everyone was here, Bobbins, started his lesson.
"Ok today we are learning about Boggarts. Nobody knows exactly what a Boggart looks like, although, can anybody tell me what a Boggart is and what shape it takes when you are looking at one?" He said loudly. So loud it could of almost been a yell.
He scanned the room to look for any hands up.

Of course Lena knew what a Boggart was. She remembered, back when her family had lived in an old manor in Lancaster, watching her mother get rid of the stupid things. Boggarts had never really scared her because she knew how to fend them off. Lazily, she raised her hand into the air.
"When someone looks at a Boggart it changes into the thing they fear most, sir." Lena said, sitting up straight.

Sam wasn't sure that he knew what a Boggart was. He sort of remembered his father telling him what they were and what shape they took when you looked at them.
He put his hand into the air and said "Professor, aren't Boggart's shape shifters?." He said uncertainly.

"That is correct Miss Polienko and to you, Mr Miller, you are also correct. I suggest what I say next you write down because Boggarts will be on your end of year exams." Bobbins said jovially, with a smile.
"Boggarts are shape shifters that prefer to live in dark, confined spaces. For example, cupboards and chests," He said gesturing the chest out the front of the class, "They take the form of the thing most feared by the person it comes across and nobody has ever seen a Boggarts natural state. Boggarts feed on the emotion we know as fear, rather than deploying it's defence mechanisum. That is exactly why the Boggart is classified as a Dark Creature." He said walking up and down the middle isle of his classroom clutching his hands together.
Bobbins walked back to the front of the classroom, sat behind his desk and started marking some work he had been meaning to do do since last year. He had forgotten to tell his students how long and what exactly to write down. He flicked his wand at the blackboard and what he just said was written very neatly in white chalk on the blackboard.
"You have five minutes to write what is down on the blackboard and don't complain about the lighting, this should fix it."
And with another flick of his wand there were seven lit, very elegant, large candles, the shape of a merperson infront of each students desk including his own. What also appeared were ink bottles the shape of dragons. Bobbins didn't like having plain looking things around him; so you would usually find very wierd looking, basic objects around in the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and his office.
"Well if were going to write we might as well do it in style. Ok, you may start now." He said looking towards his students.
When he saw people getting to work he went back to his marking.

Tim got out some parchment and his quill. He dipped it into the dragon shapped ink well.
He began to scribble down the writting on the board. He did indeed scribble it down because he was not the neatest writter in the world and sometimes he had trouble reading his own writting. He was excited about learning about boggarts. He had had one in the cupboard under the sink once, his father had gotten rid of it quick sticks though, so Tim never got to see it.

Rori sat up straighter when she had heard that they would be dealing with boggarts. Amazing creatures they were but very dangerous. She knew her family had one under the sink once, but she had never seen it. It made a terrible racket though.
She got out the required things and began to jot down the writting on the board. Hopefully this class would be one she passed at the end of the year.

Wow Boggarts. Wonderful creatures. Although they can be dangerous. What a fantastic lesson!
Sam was already starting to like this teacher. He did as he was told and dunked his quill into the dragon shaped ink pot, stared at the Merperson shaped candle for a moment before writing what he needed to on his piece of parchment. Sam was a very neat writer; even when he wasn't trying to he would manage to write very neatly.
When Sam had finished writing he sat back in his chair, hand behind his head and waited for further instructions, with a smile on his face.

What? No house points? Writing?
Almost bored to tears, Lena opened to a random page in her notebook and wrote a quick summary of what was on the board. She knew about boggarts already. She remembered the time there was one in her mother's armoire. Lena racked her brain, trying to remember what her mother saw when she opened it. Probably something like getting fired from her job as a writer, which had sort-of happened.
Lena could guess there was a boggart in the chest. She was rather looking forward to seeing what Professor Bobbins feared most.
